Caroline Guirr🇬🇧
United Kingdom · pop, jazz, easy listening, soul, folk"Caroline Guirr is an artist with a rootsy disposition, from jazz sophistication to timeless pop sensibilities." (Thomas Aldora, Aldora Britain Records). Originally from Coulsdon, South London, now based in Northumberland, a varied portfolio music life has led to wonderful places and to meet wonderful people through being a performer, arranger, music score artist, musical director, composer, songwriter, producer, visual media creator, and educator. Currently concentrating mainly on music creation/arranging and performance, my songs depict a mixture of stories, some real, some fiction, all inspired by real-life events; from songs appreciating the wonderful natural world, to the idiosyncrasies of human behaviour. Although some of them are about loss, there are over-riding themes about appreciation, strength and hope, intending to impart songs of comfort and positivity. Even the sadder songs have messages of hope and renewal in them. There are protest and anthem songs too. Ranging from small intimate jazz sounds to bigger rock punchy songs, gentle ambient moments and a touch of country music, the songs are themed around rites of passage: the zeitgeist of a moment. Largely soul/jazz/folk tinged pop in style, the piano features strongly; trumpet and bass also feature with moments from guest artists. The vocal style has been compared to Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins), English folk with a hit of Carole King. Some of the pieces are instrumental; all can be adapted to be instrumental.
