United StatesI live in San Diego, Ca where I have much experience in the local music scene. Whether it be the numerous bands I've played in or helping promote other artists. I got my start writing reviews by contributing to a punk rock fanzine a friend put together. I quickly began writing about genres outside of that scene since I was also keeping up with the singer/songwriter community that was emerging. I eventually decided to take a break from writing to focus on my main band Duchess. Soon after putting out a few releases with the band I decided to get back into writing about music again as I really missed it. An online writing job for a website called music-nerds came along making me quite re-inspired. This was a great chance to put in reviews on classic rock musicians like Alice Cooper and other similar artists. A great experience but the site sadly shut down which led me back to making music but as a solo artist this time. Besides working on my own music I sometimes fill in on guitar or bass for other bands should they need a fill-in for a show every once in awhile. I've also helped a few songwriters when they needed a bit of help with a lyric or a chord change. I never want to change the song too much as it's theirs but sometimes it turns into a good collaboration and that's always a plus when that happens. Creating music and writing about music I find both very fulfilling. I just really look forward to hearing new artists and bands as there is always so much to discover. I am a genuine fan who finds it does not matter whether I'm writing or performing. I never cease to be amazed at the music that is coming out. I feel the same now as I did as a kid first discovering rock n' roll and the soul singers playing through the house from my parents' record collection. And to list a few of my favorite music writers of whom I never tire of re-reading their books are: Nick Kent, Lester Bangs, Nina Antonia and Neil McCormick. They are great examples of really caring about their subjects and their craft. Check out their work as you won't be disappointed.
